Rilo Kiley

Is a band I had never really listened to, but had heard of around the way. I am working on a portrait of Jenny Lewis the singer of Rilo Kiley, who is releasing a new album next month. The Piece should be in the next issue of Paste magazine, I just wanted to post a sketchbook drawing.

I will post more on the piece as it comes along. Some of you know that I happen to be hitched to a girl named Kylie, so the similarity of names could lead to a misspelling of epic proportions...

In other news, I will be putting up some prints in a new sale section along with links to the gallery in SF later this week. And I am going to be cooking chicken this evening for friends.

Home Again

Well, I just got back from the show at Park Life in San Francisco, a long and delayed flight brought us back to steamy New York City. A good trip, many tacos were had and two new pairs of corduroy short shorts were added to the collection! I will be posting photos and new drawings up later this week.

New Work chosen for 3x3 annual 5

I found out yesterday that the Secret Series, and the portrait I did for the New Yorker have been selected to be in this year's 3x3 Illustration Annual! Great news after the website debacle, 3x3 is a pretty amazing magazine put together by two really proficient people Charles Hively and Sarah Munt. I interned there last year and it was a great experience, if a little overwhelming.

But, the work that comes out of that house is awesome, with some great studio photographs. When you get a chance, pick up a copy of the new issue Featuring Anita Kuntz. I will post more pictures when they publish the book later this year!

This is last year's annual, I think you can still get it at barnes and noble stores here in NYC

Hacked Site, other fun things

Well, my site was unusable this week, I guess the long patriotic weekend allowed some people more time to get into more trouble than others. I got to see the fireworks from Greenpoint with my friends Abdi and Niko, what a beautiful view. So I get back and the website was pretty much gone, so I am having to fix it this week.

Needless to say, there is going to be a lot of new work coming up in the next week as I am preparing for my show at the Park Life Gallery. I leave for San Francisco on Tuesday and the show opens Friday July 18th! I will be at Park Life for the opening which starts at 7 and goes until late, see you there!
